Monica is a Lecturer, International Researcher and Published Author, a Life and Executive Business Coach and a Mindfulness Consultant and Coach. Monica has trained to facilitate Mindfulness in both Primary and Secondary Schools settings in the University of Bangor (Wales) and to facilitate Mindfulness Self Care Programmes in the Workplace in Oxford University (UK). Monica is currently facilitating the B (stop and breathe) Mindfulness in Schools Programme in Clare Post Primary Schools, Youth Reach Centres and The National Learning Network. This programme is being funded by The Elevate Foundation which supports adolescents’ wellbeing and mental health in County Clare.
In our daily lives we may become estranged from our bodies, ignoring the messages they send us, as we spend most of our time in our heads, thinking, planning and analysing. This excessive focus on thoughts may in time undermine our wellbeing, as increasingly we are living our lives virtually.
In Monica’s workshop you will learn tools for cultivating the capacity for resilience and develop coping mechanisms for self-care by examining aspects of self-care in a holistic way, with an emphasis on mindsets and understanding body/mind connections. You will also learn how to recognise our conditioned patterns of reactivity to stress through identifying automatic negative thoughts (ANTS) and how to counter these by reframing them using Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) techniques. In this way, you will understand how to ‘come home’ to our bodies, read our bodies’ signals more accurately and thus re-establish connections that modern life can so easily disrupt.
